ABSENCE / CREATIVITY 2024
Installation based on social issues.
In borderline situations, youth anxiety and depression is a deep and open wound in our society and is becoming, as can be seen in the statistics, a national emergency... an epidemic that can lead to suicide.
This exhibition describes just some of the processes that lead to anxiety, depression and hopelessness in young adolescents and seeks to provide support and hope. It also seeks to share, by way of prevention, the awareness of these issues with real examples of young people under the age of 18, who have gone through and continue to go through experiences that are very difficult to overcome.
This is a complex project, which presents different edges and techniques, which show a series of specific experiences narrated in works, texts and audios of the same young people who participated in the workshops. As well as several works of my authorship that summarize conclusions and processes of the same.
Youth anxiety and depression is suffered by thousands of young people regardless of gender or social class.
Overexposure to the use of social networks, the consumption of psychoactive substances, abuse in all its forms, in some cases poverty and educational disadvantages; lead young adolescents to seek outlets that rather lead to anxiety, despair and depression and can trigger youth crises such as emotional disorders, abuse, early delinquency and deep social ills.
This exhibition aims to raise awareness and elevate the issue to a comprehensive discussion about hopelessness, its consequences and its impact on adolescent mental health.
By promoting positive links between adolescents who have experienced similar situations, circles of trust are created and support networks are formed that empower, promote self-knowledge and generate peace of mind. They also become vocational tools.
